Erisco and ViPS Reveal First Joint Customer

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – December 12, 2000 – The TriZetto(R) Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: TZIX), announced today that its subsidiary, Erisco, Inc., a leading provider of software-based business solutions for healthcare payer organizations, and ViPS, a recognized leader in delivering business intelligence and decision support solutions to the healthcare industry, have contracted the first integrated Erisco's Facets(R) and ViPS' MCSource(TM) solution to QualChoice of Virginia. The integration will allow QualChoice to leverage the wealth of data residing in Facets by utilizing enterprise-wide clinical analysis tools provided through MCSource.

"In today's evolving healthcare environment, companies are seeking more efficient ways to monitor ongoing operations in an effort to control medical costs," says Frank Micucci, CIO of QualChoice of Virginia. "Our decision to utilize Facets was greatly influenced by the ability to more rapidly access data for sophisticated healthcare analysis. The integrated solution provided through Facets and MCSource will allow us to collect and maintain our data, as well as produce a multitude of analytical reports to help improve the quality of our operations."

QualChoice of Virginia, Erisco's largest service bureau customer, is currently utilizing Facets 2.9, which contains the interoperability to MCSource. Using the integrated solution, data is effortlessly collected from Facets and mapped directly into MCSource's data mart for easy accessibility. The result is a flexible environment for collecting and manipulating data as needed to meet the complex analytical requirements of managed care organizations (MCOs), including HEDIS reporting, provider profiling and ad hoc reporting.

"It is critical for MCOs to have sophisticated solutions that operate together seamlessly," says John Jordan, senior vice president of sales and marketing at TriZetto. "Erisco's alliance with ViPS provides customers, such as QualChoice of Virginia, with a comprehensive tool that gives managed care executives the information they need to make the critical strategic and day-to-day decisions that help improve the quality of their operations and healthcare overall."

QualChoice of Virginia is a managed care organization owned by Blue Ridge Health Alliance -- a corporation formed in 1994. Shareholders include the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Health Services Foundation, as well as The Martha Jefferson Hospital, a minority shareholder. In January of 1995, QualChoice of Virginia was licensed as an HMO in the Commonwealth of Virginia and now provides health benefits to more than 115,000 people throughout Central Virginia, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Roanoke, the Shenandoah Valley and Southwest Virginia.

ViPS is a recognized leader in providing innovative, integrated and intelligent solutions for the healthcare industry. A privately held firm headquartered in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metro area, ViPS addresses critical financial and clinical requirements with advanced anti-fraud software, claims processing software and medical management decision support software. ViPS' application service provider (ASP) services, Web-enabled collaborative software and consulting expertise also deliver exceptional value to its customer base. In operation for over 20 years, ViPS serves major government and diverse commercial health plans nationwide, including large insurance corporations, managed care organizations, federal contractors and others.
