TriZetto's HealthWeb Internet Platform Offered to Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans Through Five-year Agreement

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – June 19, 2001 – The TriZetto(R) Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: TZIX), announced today that it has entered into a five-year, national agreement with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) that provides for BCBSA to offer information on TriZetto's HealthWeb(R) Internet platform to its member plans.

The HealthWeb Internet platform allows health plans and their members, physicians, employers and brokers to use the Internet for a variety of healthcare business transactions, including inquiries about eligibility, coverage, and the status of claims and referrals; ID card requests; enrollment in the health plan; and selecting a primary care physician (PCP).

"This agreement demonstrates the potential for HealthWeb to bring significant value to Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans nationwide to help them reduce administrative costs and improve customer service," says Gail Knopf, head of TriZetto's HealthWeb business unit. "Working with the Association, we'll be able to better educate BCBSA member plans on the advantages of the HealthWeb platform."

TriZetto has already signed agreements to provide the HeathWeb platform to four Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. Additionally, approximately one third of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans use TriZetto's Erisco Facets(R) software as their core administrative system.

According to Steve Jenkins, managing director of e-business partnerships with BCBSA, more Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans are looking to implement Internet business strategies to improve service and increase operational efficiency. Jenkins stated that HealthWeb appealed to the Association because of its features and ability to work with a variety of administrative software systems used by BCBSA member plans, including Erisco Facets.

"We believe HealthWeb offers our members a broad variety of transactions and adaptability," says Jenkins. "Particularly for plans running Facets, HealthWeb offers a quick-to-market solution for Web-enabling their business."

Under the agreement, BCBSA will grant visibility to TriZetto at conferences to educate member plans about the HealthWeb platform. The Association will also issue HealthWeb product updates and advisories to its plans, as well as facilitate the evaluation of e-business solutions for the member plans. TriZetto will form a HealthWeb user group, composed of representatives from BCBSA member plans that are HealthWeb customers, to provide product feedback and recommendations for improving the platform.
