TriZetto to Provide HealthWeb Internet Platform to The Regence Group's Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – October 11, 2001 – The TriZetto(R) Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: TZIX) has signed an agreement to provide its HealthWeb(R) Internet platform to The Regence Group, a Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) organization serving more than three million members in the Western United States. The Regence Group is currently implementing Erisco's Facets, TriZetto's managed care administration software. This is the sixth HealthWeb contract that TriZetto has signed with BCBS Plans, reinforcing HealthWeb's position as the largest supplier of e-business software to BCBS Plans.

The Regence Group operates four health plans: Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, Regence BlueShield (in Washington), Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, and Regence BlueShield of Idaho. Implementation of HealthWeb will begin at Regence BlueShield of Idaho and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, with an option to expand to the other plans. HealthWeb will allow the plans to bring online services -- inquiries about eligibility and coverage, ID card requests, health plan enrollment and more -- to its members, providers, employers and brokers.

"Our members and physicians want these online features, but the time and costs associated with building our own Internet application were very high," said Wayne Haddad, senior vice president and CIO with The Regence Group. "We're confident that HealthWeb will interface seamlessly with Facets, another TriZetto product. The fact that service and maintenance of the combined systems can be handled with one phone call is another tremendous advantage."

In July, TriZetto signed a five-year agreement with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) to educate BCBSA member plans on the advantages of the HealthWeb platform. Gail Knopf, chief operating officer of TriZetto's HealthWeb unit, says the agreement is beginning to pay dividends.

"The more Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans learn about HealthWeb, the more inquiries we receive," said Knopf. "HealthWeb offers significant value to Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans nationwide to help them reduce administrative costs and improve customer service."
