TriZetto Joins Forces With diCarta To Optimize Provider Contracting For Health Plans

Companies to Integrate TriZetto NetworX and diCarta Contracts Software to Help Payers Evaluate Reimbursement Rates and Manage the Lifecycle of Provider Contracts

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – December 17, 2004 – Health plans will soon be able to analyze proposed physician and hospital reimbursement rates and automatically upload that information to standardized contract templates, thanks to a new partnership between The TriZetto Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: TZIX) and diCarta, Inc. The companies are creating an interface between TriZetto's NetworX Modeler™, standalone software that predicts the financial impact of new or revised provider terms, and diCarta's Contracts enterprise software, which manages the full contract lifecycle. Together, the two systems will form a seamless solution for optimizing provider contracts.

TriZetto and diCarta made the decision to integrate their systems and sell the solution together in order to help healthcare payers tame the volumes of increasingly complex physician and hospital contracts that outline how various medical services are reimbursed.

"Our proven solution, combined with TriZetto's unique predictive modeling technology, provides health plans with an out-of-the-box solution that addresses an otherwise unmanageable administrative process," said Mike Kaul, president and CEO of diCarta. "Leading healthcare companies understand that automation and standardization are key to effective contract management."

With diCarta Contracts software, health plans can create new agreements drawn from a library of contract templates containing approved language and terms. The system also automatically routes non-standard language for appropriate review and approval. The health plan can then use NetworX Modeler to evaluate the medical cost impact of new or revised provider reimbursement rates, which, once final, can be uploaded into the contract. Customers that want to further maximize speed and cost savings can also use NetworX Pricer™ in conjunction with NetworX Modeler. TriZetto's NetworX Pricer automatically and accurately prices claims against the negotiated provider terms. These terms can be moved electronically between the modeler system and the pricing engine, without being entered again.

TriZetto continues to stay ahead of the curve with cutting-edge IT solutions for its customers, according to Jeff Hensley, vice president of New Technology Development for TriZetto.

"By teaming with diCarta, the industry leader in contract management, we'll be able to offer payers a unique product that can significantly improve the provider contracting process, both from a time and money standpoint," said Hensley. "To further support our product strategy, Gartner predicts that the nascent contracting management software market will explode to a $20 billion business by 2007. These startling figures only reinforce what our customers are telling us, and we're excited to be the first out of the gate with this much-needed capability."
