Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Becomes Seventh Health Plan to Select TriZetto's CareAdvance Enterprise Software

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – December 8, 2005 – The TriZetto Group Inc. (NASDAQ: TZIX) announced that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City has become the seventh major health plan to select TriZetto's CareAdvance™ Enterprise software to automate its case, disease and population management programs. The CareAdvance solution, which TriZetto introduced in May 2004, is gaining rapid market adoption and is expected to be managing care for more than six million health plan members nationwide by the end of 2006. An additional three million members may be added upon the completion of the pending acquisition of CareKey Inc., which TriZetto announced last month.

CareAdvance Enterprise will be tightly integrated with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City's Facets® administrative software, in use since 1999. Last year, the company upgraded to Facets Extended Enterprise™ (Facets e2), the latest version of the software, and has also purchased multiple specialized software components from TriZetto, including the HealthWeb® Internet platform for conducting business online with constituents; the NetworX Pricer™ and NetworX Modeler™ applications for advanced contract management; and the Facets e2 Defined Contribution module to administer consumer-directed healthcare benefit plans.

According to Dr. Blake Williamson, vice president and medical director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, CareAdvance Enterprise will enable the health plan to expand its successful chronic disease management programs and to eventually offer innovative, preventive wellness programs to all of its 880,000 members.

"CareAdvance Enterprise will help us to quickly identify members with specific medical conditions for proactive treatment programs," said Williamson. "The technology will also support real-time, electronic communication among members, providers and health plan staff. That sophisticated functionality will allow us to implement programs that can help all our members better manage their care, make smart lifestyle choices and, ultimately, lead healthier lives."

"Medical management is a key area in which technology can be a health plan's best ally for reducing costs," said Robert London, M.D., TriZetto's chief clinical officer. "CareAdvance Enterprise is a highly functional system that can help our customers improve price and quality of care, while engaging their members with value-added services that tighten the relationship between the health plan and the consumer."

CareAdvance Enterprise is a single platform for automating case, disease and population management. Tightly integrated with claims and other core systems, this patient-centric solution provides complete coverage, "from claim to consumer." CareAdvance Enterprise automates all aspects of care management, including: member identification and assessment; guideline-based care planning; member and provider communications; task and team management; ongoing member monitoring, education and care coaching; and reporting for a variety of constituents.

In November, TriZetto announced that it is acquiring CareKey, the advanced care management software provider that jointly developed the CareAdvance Enterprise product suite with TriZetto. This acquisition is part of TriZetto's overall commitment to provide technology to assist healthcare payers in addressing both administrative and medical costs.

"TriZetto has a strong history serving the core administration needs of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans," added London. "Over the last two years, we have dramatically expanded the ways we can assist health plans in capitalizing on the rise of consumer-centered healthcare. In addition to our traditional benefit plan administration, TriZetto now also offers integrated solutions for fund, care and provider network management."
