(NASDAQ: TZIX) announced that its collaborative care management and personal health management software, called Personal CareAdvance®, has been chosen as part of a six-month feasibility test sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The government is running only two such tests to determine how best to transform CMS claims data into personal health records that offer value to both Medicare beneficiaries and their care providers. TriZetto is a subcontractor on the project to Capstone Government Solutions, a joint venture of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee and Cigna Government Services, an arm of Cigna Corp.

As part of the program, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee's wholly owned subsidiary, Shared Health, will populate TriZetto's Personal CareAdvance software with sample Medicare beneficiary claims data. Though Medicare beneficiaries won't have access to the system during the test, in a live production environment TriZetto's secure, online system can provide members with extensive automated health management tools. For example, members can use TriZetto's Personal CareAdvance to manage their health information in one central location and obtain valuable guidance on how to track their conditions and lead healthier lives. Individuals can create medical diaries, view claims histories, and input important information on allergies, health conditions, and medications. They can also complete health risk appraisals and receive personalized health reminders and targeted content based upon their conditions.

With Personal CareAdvance, members control their health records, granting access to whomever they choose, including doctors, family members and caregivers. The secure, accessible system helps provide accurate and timely information for the most appropriate treatments, including emergency care. A special tool can extract the portions of the health record that are most important during an emergency. The member or his doctor can select in advance which information to include in the emergency card, ranging from family contact information to high-end diagnostics, such as a baseline EKG.
