TriZetto's CareAdvance Enterprise Software Helps Premera Blue Cross Improve Health Outcomes for Members

System Replaces Manual Care Management, Consolidates Five Information Sources onto Single Platform

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – March 29, 2007 – The TriZetto Group Inc. (NASDAQ:TZIX) announced that Premera Blue Cross, which serves 1.3 million members in Alaska and Washington, has successfully gone live on TriZetto's Clinical CareAdvance(TM) software. The health plan is using Clinical CareAdvance to automate the continuum of member care, improve clinical staff productivity and extend the reach of its medical management programs. Clinical CareAdvance is one of two modules that comprise TriZetto's total CareAdvance Enterprise system, which automates all aspects of care management, enabling health plans to guide consumers on making better health decisions that can lower medical costs and improve health outcomes.

An open and highly flexible platform designed to work with various core administrative systems, Clinical CareAdvance integrates seamlessly with TriZetto's Facets® administrative system, which Premera has used since 2001. By automating manual processes and streamlining workflows, Clinical CareAdvance is helping Premera prioritize and route case management work according to rules established by the plan's clinical staff. Clinical CareAdvance also allows health plans to exchange information with multiple internal and external systems, such as Premera's predictive modeling software, resulting in a cohesive technology environment.

"Clinical CareAdvance gives us the functionality, ease of use, and flexibility we need to positively impact our case management operations," said John Castiglia, M.D., chief medical officer for Premera. "Our clinical staff is able to work more efficiently, with more members with critical needs than ever before. Ultimately, TriZetto's technology is helping us to boost internal productivity and improve the quality of care for our members."

Using Clinical CareAdvance, health plans can offer broad utilization, case and disease management, including automated member identification; guideline-based care planning; task management and assignments; ongoing member monitoring; and granular reporting. Importantly, Clinical CareAdvance involves members more directly in their health.

"With Clinical CareAdvance, health plans can perform all critical care management functions within one integrated application," said Gene Drabinski, president of TriZetto's Cost and Quality of Care unit. "TriZetto developed its advanced care management technology to help health plans meet the growing market demand for personalized member education and self-directed care management, especially with the rise of consumer retail healthcare."

About CareAdvance Enterprise

CareAdvance Enterprise is software that automates care management along the entire continuum of health, from the moment a member joins a plan, to when they leave the plan. The system includes two modules - Personal CareAdvance and Clinical CareAdvance - which integrate with the health plan's core information systems, aggregating the member's personal claims and diagnosis history, current prescriptions, and even laboratory data, into a single data repository. Members, their providers, and care managers can securely exchange and add information - at the member's discretion - via Internet browser, e-mail and other communication channels. By combining this data with an automated rules engine, the application enables health plans to send personalized information to members, including health risk assessments and reminders, secure messages, and customized health reports.
